Bleach The Movie 2: The Diamond Dust Rebellion

All right anime fans! the time has finally come. Yes that’s right Ichigo and the gang have decided to come back with a powerhouse of a movie. Bleach the Movie 2: The Diamond Dust Rebellion gives you everything you’ve come to expect from one of our favorite Shonnen Jump mangas. Now I’m not exactly sure whether this movie takes place in between the Arrancar story arc or after but it seperates itself enough to not make you question. Those following the anime will take pleasure in knowing that the filler arc animation is definitely not used for this one either (as we all have been complaining about in the community). Read more

Kill Kill Faster Faster

So while hitting the net, I happened to come across a film that had some real mixed reviews and not a lot of publicity. Kill Kill Faster Faster is definitely a film noir that has every reason to be speculative on. Gareth Maxwell Roberts shows us a story about a man named Joey “One Way”(played by Gil Bellows) who is just released from prison. While in prison he had composed a play on his crime written in play form. Hollywood agent Maxie (Esai Morales) has decided to turn this into a big time Hollywood deal and brinks Joey into the business to rewrite the story for more audience appeal. It is here that he meets Maxie’s arm candy “Fleur”(Lisa Ray)whom has been a fan of Joeys for some time. Joey and Fleur start a torrid love affair, during which, Joey explores more of himself and searches for a reconciliation for a crime he has never forgiven himself for. Will this affair lead to anything more, and will Joey ever get the reconciliation he so desperately needs? Only watching this movie will tell. Read more

The Promotion

I just happened to come by this new Sean Willaim Scott movie. He is definitely changing his style, getting away from the whole college cool boy routine, and trying out a bit more polished comedy in this one.

Sean william Scott and John C. Reilly star in this comedy. Doug Stauber (Scott) is an assistant manager of a convenience grocery store trying to come up with a way to become noticed and provide for him and his fiancee. Read more

Freedom Downtime

This film is a independent documentary on the wrongful and controversial imprisonment of famed hacker Kevin Mitnik. Publisher of the hacker magazine, Emmanuel Goldstein 2600.com heads an investigation into the wrongful way of convicting this computer specialist. From one locale to another, Goldstein explores the hacker community and the myths and truths behind Mitnik’s escapades from his early years, to his time in hiding from the police. He also brings up many points about the way legislature is brought about on a new frontier of computer crimes such as what is a real computer crime and disseminating the search of truth versus the pursuit of destruction. Interviews with the community are abound and we are finally left with a chance to talk with Kevin himself. Read more

The Dark Knight

One cannot begin a review on The Dark Knight without first mentioning the late Heath Ledger’s performance as the Joker. It was nothing short of extraordinary. He was the best evil minded joker in the history of this tale. No one will ever be able to portray this role again. Heath Ledger gave a performance worthy of an Oscar by my judgment.

This film had my full attention from the very first scene zipping through Gotham City toward Gotham National Bank to the final scene 2 hrs and 30 minutes later. It seemed to me like it just started, when Lieutenant Gordon (played by Gary Oldman) used an axe to shatter the bat signal in the final shot of the best film I have had the pleasure of watching in several years. Babylon A.D.

In the mood for a great end of summer sci-fi flick? Well then you’re out of luck if you have chosen this one my fellow movie goers. Babylon A.D. is another one of those quickly pushed out, over budgeted, try to be summer blockbuster that just does not stack up on any level. I usually save my tirade of pros and cons of a movie until after I have given a short plot synopsis but there is just one problem with this one. There is no plot. Read more
